Regional Science High School (RSHS) math whiz kids proved that they are undefeated after hauling four championship titles in all year levels during the Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge Division Team finals on February 15.

Senior math wizards Mitzi Love C. Syjongtian and John Daniel Malenab seized the gold after garnering a perfect score in the easy, average, and difficult rounds, making it a record breaking history in the said math challenge. It can be remembered that Alexander Allapitan of Class 2010 perfected the written exam in MTAP ’10.

Freshmen duo Princess Bonett Paragua and Clifton Daquioag scored 53 points after a clincher round but their correct answer in the do-or-die question secured their champ crown.

On the other hand, Jeremy Keith Baquing and Courtney Ulysses Daquioag, third year representatives, scored 50 points against the 48 points of Isabela National High School (INHS) duo, their closest rival while Sophies Don Christian Zipagan and Meryll Salmorin edged the whiz kids of INHS with 4 margins, 46-42.

“It was like a home-court advantage. Just imagine if the participants from other schools will beat you in your own territory,” said Romel L. Ricardo, Mathematics Department Head and coach of the fourth year contenders.

Other coaches are Agapito Tumolva (3rd year), Lovelee de Peralta (2nd year), and Daisy Ilar (1st year).
